Food
Here is the low down on food from our resident camp-chef Big Steve:
Good afternoon folks.
For those of you who don't know me i am Big Steve. I am one of
the Scottish guys working in the bay area. I am also one of the
organisers of Get Golden.
As you should know, the event is next weekend. We thought it best
to send out some info as to what to expect. This e-mail will be
one of few coming out from different organising parties.
My responsibility at the moment is to come up with some kind of
reasonably edible food to eat while camping. I have created a list
of sorts to let you all see what you can expect in terms of culinary
delights. The food will be very basic. The reason being that some
food takes too long to cook, some you just can't do for this amount
of
people and some is just rediculous to try and keep fresh.
The list:
Breakfasts
- Cereal
- Milk
- Bread
- Jam
- Peanut butter
- Coffee
- Tea
- Hot Chocolate
- Butter/Margerine
- Possibly Bagels and Cream Cheese
Lunches
- Bread
- Jam
- Peanut butter
- Cold meat (if we can keep it fresh)
- Dried meats
- Cheese slices
- Granola bars
- Tortilla Chips
- Butter/Margerine
- Lettuce
- Tomato
Dinners (not all on the same night)
- Spaghetti Bolognese (Vege option with Mushroom (no meat))
- Chilli and rice (Other sauce available again for vegetarians)
- Soup
- Baked potatoes, beans and cheese
Snacks
Snacks such as granola bars and tortilla chips we have some of
but you might want to bring a selection of your own e.g. chocolate
for taking up hiking if you are a bit peckish. Running water is
available at the campsite. You should take a bottle to fill up each
day for taking on activities.
Drinks
Soft drinks will be provided but alcohol will not so if you are
over 21 and intending to drink during the weekend then please bring
it with you.
The list is subject to change. If there are major grievances about
the food then let me know however bear in mind that we are working
on a tight budget and you are camping!
Anyways, i'd be happy to hear any comments. E-mail me at stephen.allan@gmail.com.
Have a great week and see you next weekend!
